A very nice place to eat in Tirana.

There is no shortage of good food and good places to eat in Tirana. If you like Italian food, the pasta restaurants here (pasticeri) are abundant. If you like fresh meat, be it chicken, beef, lamb, or fish, then you would be hard pressed to find a restaurant that does not offer fresh meat. I like fish, and the fact that Tirana is relatively close to the coast makes finding a fish restaurant really easy.

One of my favorite fish restaurants in Tirana is Dvjaka. The restaurant has a seating capacity of about 30. It is decorated in a rustic, seashore decor. There are stuffed sea birds, and fishing nets on the walls, and a nice collection of photographs from different parts of the world. They have music that is set at a good volume so that you can hear it, but it won't interrupt your conversation, or your thoughts if you are dining alone. In sort, the restaurant is understated, and clean. The bathrooms are also clean.

Dvjaka has a decent selection of wines, mostly Italian, and a good selection of beer. But hey, you are there for the food.

The salads are fresh, and the Greek salad and the seafood salad are particularly fantastic. The fish selection is always good, and includes bass, koca, shrimp, calamari, trout, merlusa, etc. I prefer my fish grilled, or ala plancha, and when it is prepared for me it is always prepared very well.

I have also had their seafood risotto. That was very tasty. Their fish soup is also excellent (better than the fish soup at some other places in town).

The service is friendly, courteous and fast. The staff understands English and Italian, and every effort has always been made to ensure that my order is understood. I've paid lots of money at other restaurants and have been treated shabbily by the staff. At Dvjaka I've always been treated as if my business really meant something. What more can be said.

The prices at Dvjaka will not set you back. You'll have to trust me on that one. If you are in Tirana, make a point of visiting Dvjaka.
